Who We Are

East End Disabilities Group is a civil rights organization and a voice for people with disabilities and those who will become disabled

In 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was created by Congress and signed into law by President Bush, creating a civil rights law to guarantee equal access and opportunity to people with disabilities.

In 1994 a group of disabled people came together because their local movie theater was not complying with the law and they saw that government was not enforcing the ADA. They created the East End Disabilities Group, (EEDG), a 501(c)3 organization, to represent disabled people and to be a voice demanding the law be enforced.

EEDG represents people with all forms of disabilities: physical, mental and emotional.

EEDG represents people disabled now and those who will become disabled in the future.

EEDG is the voice of the disabled who want equal rights and access and to be a part of the community.

EEDG identifies barriers and needs pressing for change
